Zuhdi Jasser MD., is a muslim born of immigrants from Syria. He practices internal medicine and nuclear cardiology in Phoenix, Arizona. In 2003, he founded the American Islamic Forum for Democracy (AIFD) based in Phoenix, Arizona. I like this man because he advocates the separation of mosque and state and reform of his faith. He has spoken out against the ideology of “political Islam” or Islamism and is a frequent guest on Fox News Channel, CNN, CBS, and MSNBC. Furthermore, he has also contributed articles to nationally read newspapers like the Arizona Republic, The Dallas Morning News, The New York Post, The Wall St. Journal and The Washington Times.

Jasser has testified before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Homeland Security hearings on The Extent of Radicalization in the American Muslim Community, as well as the United States House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution on June 24, 2011 on HR 963 the “See Something, Say Something Act”. On June 20, 2012 he again testified before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Homeland Security to discuss the Muslim Community’s response to the committee’s hearings on radicalization in the American Muslim community. On February 27, 2013, Jasser testified on the issue of “Anti-Semitism: A Growing Threat to All Faiths” before the U.S. House of Representatives,Committee on Foreign Affairs, Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, Global Human Rights, and International Organizations.

In March 2012, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) Appointed Zuhdi Jasser to serve a 2-year term on the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom. On June 25, 2013, in his role of USCIRF Commissioner, Jasser appeared before the House Committee on Foreign Affairs Joint Subcommittee Hearing on “Religious Minorities in Syria: Caught in the Middle”. On July 23, 2013 Jasser was elected Vice Chair of USCIRF.

In short, I like Zuhdi Jasser because he speaks out against acts of aggressive violent jihad.  He understands the danger and advocates for the separation of mosque and state.  This man is also a Muslim but he  loves this country and is doing his part to protect it. Bravo fellow patriot!  We need more Muslims to do follow his lead.

For an outstanding video that explains the rise of Islamic extremism in the West and the United States in particular see “The Third Jihad” you will find it in my Library section under Documentaries.
